Adapting to Life's Hiccups: Finding Your Way Back to Your Goals

Good Morning-Ish...

As I write this at 6:11 AM, I have a peacefully sleeping baby on my chest. Last night was a bit of a struggle with multiple wake-ups due to the baby, so I didn't manage to wake up at 5 AM as I had hoped. My plans for some "me time" in the morning, including exercise, meditation, and a cup of coffee, didn't materialize, and I'm feeling a bit disappointed. I've really come to appreciate the quiet mornings I've had recently.

However, I recognize that today's situation is just a reflection of today, not a permanent setback. This is why planning for what you want to achieve, even if things don't go as planned, is crucial. I understand how to get back on track and work towards my main goal of getting some movement in before the day is over.

Here's how I'm adapting to salvage the day after a less-than-ideal morning: I've scheduled a one-hour yoga class at noon. This gives me ample time to prepare everything and even prep lunch before heading to the class. I refuse to let the challenges of dealing with a teething baby completely derail my own goals.

In summary, I want to emphasize that there's no one judging or reprimanding us for the hiccups along our journey, especially when it comes to parenting. Having children is a continuous exercise in patience and adaptability. You can always hit the reset button and find alternative ways to achieve your goals when things don't go as planned.

I hope you have something planned for yourself this week, and if it doesn't go according to plan, I encourage you to pivot and find an alternative that works just as well.
